    My memoir, Never in My Wildest Dreams: A Black Woman’s Life in Journalism tells their stories and recounts my own challenges. What seemed impossible turned into reality as I became the first black woman television news reporter in the West, a position that has allowed me to report on some of the most explosive and heart wrenching stories of the last half century.

Unable to afford college, she began writing for African American publications and later moved to radio and local television news.
